Living in the Future : A Retrospective #1

Nick Taylor | Uncategorized | Monday, October 22nd, 2007

I live in a contemporary urban living space in the diplomatic quarter of a modern Western civilisation.

My building has a font.

It has sofas in the lobby, and yukka plants everywhere. I have a view of the harbour, and downstairs is a place that serves sushi and latte at roughly twice the normal price. I have a remote control thing to operate the gate to the underground carpark, and there’s a special setting on my TV so I can tune into the closed circuit camera over the main entryways so I can see who’s buzzing me.

I have floor to ceiling windows. Once a month someone with climbing gear comes and cleans them.
I have no idea who they are.

Everything in the kitchen is made of stainless steel. When I sit on the sofa I build up static electricity.
If I get up and go into the kitchen, the first thing I touch sends about a million trillion volts up my arm and I generally lose control of my bowels.

The font is Century Gothic. The apartment complex across the street has Times New Roman. Thank fuck I don’t live there.
