A while back I went on about my new favourite website.

And it was. I visited it several times a day… it was getting a couple of pages of new photos a day, and generally had something amazing or incredibly funny each time.

And then they fucked it. They put up this “top users” page, and suddenly there are these desperate attention seeking wankers posting up dozens of boring pictures at a time… just so they can be at the top of a list. Tedious, tiresome clamouring scrabsters.

Part of the reason I used to visit this site is because I’d feel sorry for the pictures that had been voted down… because pictures are basically people… there’s a definite link between the picture and the thing it’s taken of, and if something gets voted down it starts feeling sorry for itself… when you vote for a picture, you’re speaking to its inner-negative… although modern photos are don’t actually have negatives, and as a result are often lacking in the depth-of character department.

So I used to go through all the new submissions voting up the ones I felt sorry for.

No more. These days I go through the new submissions and if anyone’s submitted more than three in a row, I vote them all down… but I can’t keep this up. Eventually I’ll just stop using the site.

So that’s my 2008 ruined.
