Ok - I’ve become increasingly bothered by acronyms lately but before I go into a massive rant about that, I’ll first go off on a tangent and list all the different projects that I’ve got on the go at the moment.

  • This blog - pretty much the only thing I’ve managed to keep up with apart from…
  • Twitter, which I’ve also managed to keep up with.
  • Twitoscope : a little app that uses the twitter API - I’d noticed that not only had my predictions for 2007 not come true - I couldn’t actually remember what DID come true in 2007 - so I wrote a thing for recording key events in 2008 - a cron-job pings them back out again : just I simple thing for remembering what happening in 2008 - only I forgot to actually use it.
  • Anti-procrasti - a little application for avoiding procrastination - which wrote when I should’ve been doing something else - and once it was finished, never got around to using ever again. Anyway, more on that here:
  • Panoramicon: A thing for displaying and navigating through panoramas. I kindof 1/2 wrote it then drew a picture then it all kindof stalled. Javascript and CSS. Fucking time-wasters both.
  • Wankspanner.com: A blog for some sort of porn site that I was contemplating writing, but then I kindof went off the idea
  • Nutterwatch.com: A blog for some sort of political site that I was contemplating writing, but then I kindof went off that idea as well

Those are the ones that actually got online-ish. In addition to these there are a load of 1/2 written things on my laptop:

  • A thing for spidering by-country stats pages and consolidating the data into a single graphic. I actually finished writing this but never got around to using it.
  • A thing for creating a visual display of who funds what in the wonderful tangled web of think-tanks, PR organisations, front-companies, astroturf organisations etc etc. I can’t remember where I got to with this one. Data entry I think. There’s a fuck of a lot of it.
  • A best-seller about this ginger cat called Tom who lives with this fat bloke also called Tom who is also ginger. The first chapter opens with the cat going down to the shops - but gets 1/2 way and forgets where is going etc. That’s about as far as I got.
  • A book about the best bits in the bible - cut out all the chaff and nonsense and do a two hour version with loads of explosions etc.
  • A book about microplanets. There’s a whole twitter group devoted to them though so there doesn’t seem like a lot of point. I also haven’t actually managed to do any of my own
  • A book about how conservative morality is basically a type of arrested development - it’s obvious when you think about it
  • hookr.com - great name etc. Not sure what the site would be about, but someone else has already taken it AND THEY’RE NOT EVEN USING IT, which is annoying… but then I probably wouldn’t use it either and in anycase - writing a site just because you like the name is kindof a web version of a bacronym… but more on those later.
  • An application for displaying memes… like this one. Also a first go with codeigniter. I’ve almost finised this actually, but it seems a bit pointless - because tumblr have kindof done the same thing.
  • A screenplay about some film students making a remake of Apocalypse-Now - go up a river and meet another group making a remake of Deliverance coming the other way. Basically just an excuse to get Ride of the Valkyries and Dueling Banjos merged together into the same tune. That would rock
  • A screenplay about… actually I think I’ll keep that one under my hat for now. I’d be apopleptic with rage if someone nicked it. Let’s just say it’s another screenplay with a lot (a hell of a lot) of accidents in it
  • I wrote a little sub-app for making digital paintings that I was going to do a load of, print onto canvas then flog. Examples below. I finished the app. Didn’t start the pictures
  • I aquired about 30 canvases that I was going to throw a load of paint at, then flog. I spent a fucking eternity painting them with gesso (it needs about 5 coats of the stuff) then when it came to the actual painting, decided I didn’t like any of what I was doing, so I stashed them all under the bed, where they remain to this very day. Kindof. I’ve moved house… so while they’ve stayed under the bed, it hasn’t been the same bed.

Apparently more Americans say they want to write a book than have actually read a book. That’s ok. I’m not American, and I have read a book. I’ve actually read a number of them - but not recently on account of doing being to busy doing all this crap. I think I may have a problem actually.

In addition to those there’s a couple of others that other people have been involved with so they’ve gotten a bit further, namely:

  • 11v11.com - this one’s been going for about 8 years. There is so much more work to do it makes me feel tired just thinking about it. Big plans though. Big plans
  • tripshare.com - which I’ve said I’ll completely rewrite, having just completed the back-end the year before. I’ve hade a fairly good bash at the rewrite… but then got distracted by something else

And that’s on top of my main job which is a fairly massive educational platform for kids who haven’t learned to read yet. Email with pictures etc.

So there you go. I don’t have time to go on about acronyms - I’ll leave that one til later.
