Look at those not doing so well. What you see is this gradient... the countries that are doing the best are the ones with sensible levels of social-spending... the more "liberal" the better; the ones fucking themselves sideways are the ones that have drunk the same cool-aid that you have. In other words to reduce them to the condition of state serfs "lorded" over by the Guardian-reading classes, all funded with other people's money of course (if necessary borrowed from China and the Middle Eastern oil states, both of which are fascist). Toffs (and indeed the working and lower-middle classes) tend to believe in traditional English liberties, which means letting people run their own lives. People with more responsibility have more self-esteem and initiative and and are more likely to behave in ways which are more beneficial for themselves, their children, and society at large.
